Many of the shops and services in town open early and close late.

Saturday afternoon leading into Sunday are usually the down times, although you won’t really notice this as a tourist. The service sector are open as long as there are tourists.

Large super-markets will have different hours on the weekend and all of them will stop selling Alcohol at a certain time. This is usually 9pm on weekdays and 2pm on a Sunday. You will not be able to purchase alcohol from a shop after this time, but bars and restaurants still serve alcohol.

If you arrive during an election, you will find the state ‘dry’ and it will be very difficult to buy alcohol during this time, both from shops and bars, but restaurants will have a certain leniency.
